Privacy Policy

1. Location Data

When you tap the locate button, the App requests your device's GPS coordinates to center the map on your position and display nearby sunset scores. This location data is processed entirely on your device and is not transmitted to, stored on, or accessible by our servers.

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. The App remains fully functional without it, and you can browse and search the map manually.

2. Contact Form

The App includes an optional contact form powered by Formspree. If you choose to send a message, the information you provide (email address and message content) is transmitted to Formspree's servers and forwarded to us. We use this data solely to respond to your inquiry. Formspree's own privacy policy governs their handling of this data.

3. Hosting and Tile Data

The App is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and map tile data is served from Cloudflare R2. Cloudflare may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps, user agents) as part of their infrastructure. We do not access or process these logs for analytics or tracking purposes.

4. Analytics

Sunset Atlas uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the App is used, for example which pages are visited and which features are popular. GA4 may set cookies on your device and collect data such as your IP address (anonymised by Google), browser type, device type, and pages viewed. This data is used solely to improve the App and is not combined with data from other sources to identify you.

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. We do not use advertising features, remarketing, or any Google Signals integration. No user profiles are built from this data.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using a browser with built-in tracker blocking.

5. Third-Party Map Tiles

The base map is provided by third-party tile servers (such as OpenStreetMap-based providers). When you view the map, your device fetches tiles directly from these servers, which may log standard request data. This is governed by the respective tile provider's privacy policy.

6. Data Stored on Your Device

The App may store preferences (such as your last map position, chosen language, or selected overlay mode) in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared through your browser or app settings.

7. Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of any personal data associated with you. Since Sunset Atlas does not require accounts, the only personal data we may hold is information you voluntarily submitted through the contact form (your email address and message).

To request deletion, email us at contact@sunsetatlas.ch or send a message through the contact form in the App, stating that you would like your data deleted. We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days. Any contact form submissions stored by Formspree will also be removed.

Data stored locally on your device (such as map preferences) can be cleared at any time through your browser or app settings without contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

Sunset Atlas is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
